About Me

My work is grounded in the belief that our bodies are a wild and beautiful way to experience life — and that we each have the inherent right to feel safe, connected, and worthy.

I am Katelyn Song, a clinical social worker, somatic practitioner, and educator. I accompany people as they heal from trauma and oppression, reconnecting with their bodies as places of dignity, belonging, and agency. My work is relational, attuned, and rooted in the lived experience of the people I accompany.

My Path to This Work

Like many who are drawn to somatic healing, my path here is personal.

Life has brought me moments of challenge, growth, and deep self-reflection — moments that required staying, feeling, and returning, again and again. These experiences continue to shape how I practice, teach, and relate to others.

As an adoptee, parent, and practitioner, I understand healing as something that unfolds across generations, relationships, and bodies — not as a destination, but as a continual process of attunement and care.

My Training & Practice

I hold a Master of Social Work with a clinical concentration and have studied somatic and embodiment-based practices since 2011, including:

  • generative somatics

  • Strozzi Institute

  • Somatic Experiencing

  • Somatic Attachment

  • Polyvagal Theory

I work in private practice with survivors, adoptees, parents, queer and trans folks, organizers, and movement leaders, many of whom identify as BIPOC.

In addition to private practice, I teach a graduate-level course at the University of Washington School of Social Work, supporting students in integrating somatic awareness into clinical and community-based work. My teaching and client work are informed by a belief that embodiment, connection, agency, and interdependence are antidotes to both individual and systemic trauma.

Outside the Therapy Room

I am a parent to two young children, continually humbled by what it means to love, guide, protect, and let go. I love the ocean, and surfing is one of the ways I return to myself.
